Il Baluardo is a charming apartment occupying the two lower floors of the same historic 11th-century tower house as La Lampara, in the most panoramic and commanding position in Manarola. The name evokes the original defensive function of this medieval tower, which rises on the cliff with breathtaking views of the sea and the famous Belvedere of the village.

On the ground floor is the living area: a spacious open-plan space with two sofas (one convertible into a single bed), dining table, equipped kitchen with Nespresso and a small romantic balcony overlooking Manarola's Belvedere. On the upper floor: a bright double bedroom with ceiling fan and a room with bunk beds. Independent heating. No air conditioning — the cliff position ensures natural coolness thanks to sea breezes.

Environmental note: the property is located right on the cliff edge. At certain times of year, especially in spring, Velella (Velella velella) — small marine organisms — may appear along the coast, a sign of a clean sea. Their presence can occasionally produce a slight organic scent in the air, entirely natural and temporary.

Check-in is managed by the Cinque Terre Riviera team — a local tour operator and concierge service based in Vernazza, open daily from 9:30 to 19:00 (mid-March to early November). In Manarola, check-in is self check-in: standard hours 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. From 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM self check-in remains available with detailed instructions by email; phone assistance available with a €50.00 supplement. No check-in possible after 10:00 PM. To ensure a smooth arrival, it is essential to provide your email address in advance. You will receive detailed instructions, a secure link for online check-in (passport data as required by Italian law) and a link for the security deposit. Your access code will be sent on the day of arrival once all procedures are complete.

Heating: switched off from 1 April to 1 November (Italian regulations). Sustainability: Please switch off lights and appliances when leaving or opening doors and windows. We are in a National Park — every small action matters.
